Questions people ask
Why has P2Pool nano gone days without a block?
Blocks arrive at random. A chain with hashrate h finds a Monero block every network difficulty ÷ h seconds on average (about 45.2 h for nano right now). Gaps of three or four times the average happen regularly and are not a fault. Over many blocks, average effort settles near 100%.
What does “effort” mean?
The share work the chain did between two blocks, divided by the work a block needs on average. 50% means the block came quickly (lucky); 250% means it took 2.5 times longer than average (unlucky). Effort is luck and does not change what you earn on average.
Main, mini or nano: which pays more?
All three pay the same on average with 0% fee. Smaller chains have lower share difficulty, so small miners hold shares more often, but each chain finds blocks less often. Pick the chain where you get at least a couple of shares per PPLNS window. Our mining calculator tells you which.
How do P2Pool payouts work?
When a chain finds a Monero block, the block reward goes straight to every miner with shares in the current PPLNS window, proportional to their shares. There is no pool wallet and no minimum payout; the coins arrive in the block itself.
