Good practice
Test before printing
Scan the code with your own wallet and check the first and last characters of the address and the amount.
One subaddress per payer
Generate a new subaddress in your wallet for each invoice so payments can’t be linked and you know who paid.
Price volatile amounts late
If you quote in dollars, make the code right before payment. The converter gives the current XMR amount.
Selling online?
Use a checkout that creates a subaddress per order. See our guide to accepting Monero.

Questions people ask
Is it safe to generate a Monero QR code here?
Yes. The QR code is built by JavaScript on your device and nothing you type is sent to our server. You only ever enter a public receiving address, never a seed or private key. After generating, scan it once with your own wallet to confirm the address and amount.
What is a monero: URI?
A payment link wallets understand, in the form
monero:ADDRESS?tx_amount=0.25&recipient_name=Shop&tx_description=Order%2042. Scanning the QR code fills in the address, amount and note in the payer’s wallet so nothing has to be typed.Should I use my main address or a subaddress?
Use a fresh subaddress (starts with 8) for each customer or invoice. Payments to different subaddresses land in the same wallet but can’t be linked to each other by outsiders, and you can tell who paid.
Which wallets can scan it?
Mobile wallets such as Cake Wallet, Monerujo and Stack Wallet scan monero: QR codes with the camera. Desktop wallets like Feather and the GUI accept the pasted address and amount.
