How to Buy Gold and Silver with Monero in 2026: Dealers, Premiums and KYC

Short answer: yes, you can buy physical gold and silver with Monero. Several bullion dealers take XMR directly at checkout and ship coins and bars to your door. On 7 October 2026 one troy ounce of gold cost about 7.4 XMR (gold ~$4,147, XMR ~$560) and an ounce of silver about 0.11 XMR. Expect to pay the dealer's premium over spot, insured shipping, and in the EU VAT on silver but not on investment gold.

We checked each dealer below for an actual Monero payment option on its site in October 2026, not just a “we accept crypto” badge. Large US dealers such as JM Bullion and BGASC take crypto but do not list XMR, so they are not included.

Dealers that accept Monero

Bitgolder (UK)

Operated by Metalutions Ltd. XMR is a first-class payment option, prices are locked in USD for 15 minutes at checkout, and the shop runs a Tor onion mirror. Shipping to the UK and EU is $19.95, free above $500, insured and in unmarked packaging. Its compliance page states it applies simplified due diligence with no ID on orders under $350,000 — that is the dealer's own policy and far above what most dealers allow, so read it yourself before a large order.

Veldt Gold (USA)

A San Diego dealer selling for crypto since 2012, with a dedicated Monero buying guide. Its terms say it may request government ID once your purchases reach $20,000 in a calendar year. It accepts crypto, ACH and wire, not cards. Example prices from its site on 7 October 2026 against its own spot of $4,133.90 gold and $60.67 silver:

ProductPricePremium over spot≈ XMR
1 oz American Gold Eagle$4,348.64~5.2%7.8
1 oz Krugerrand$4,239.58~2.6%7.6
1 oz American Silver Eagle$68.77~13%0.12
1 oz Silver Maple Leaf$66.01~9%0.12
1 oz generic silver round$63.65~5%0.11

XMR column uses $559.77 per XMR (Kraken, 7 October 2026). The pattern holds across dealers: bullion coins like Krugerrands and generic rounds carry much lower premiums than government flagship coins.

Suisse Gold

You can switch the whole site's currency to XMR, and checkout generates a unique Monero address for each order. Offers delivery worldwide or storage in a Swiss vault.

Step by step: buying bullion with XMR

  1. Compare the all-in price, not the coin price: premium + shipping + VAT where it applies. A cheaper coin with $40 shipping can lose to a pricier one with free shipping.
  2. Use a delivery address you are comfortable having on file. Paying in Monero keeps the payment private; the shipping label does not. A PO box or parcel locker is an option where the dealer allows it.
  3. Check out with XMR. Copy the amount and address exactly. Most dealers lock the price for 15–30 minutes, and an underpayment will stall the order.
  4. Send from your own wallet, not from an exchange. Exchanges may block or flag withdrawals to merchants, and the dealer's invoice timer keeps running. A normal-priority Monero fee was 0.00012 XMR (about seven cents) on the day we checked; see live fees on our network page.
  5. Keep the TXID. If the dealer says it has not seen the payment, the TXID plus our transaction checker proves it confirmed.

KYC, reporting and tax: what to know

  • United States. Dealers must file Form 8300 for cash payments over $10,000. A 2021 law extended “cash” to digital assets, but the IRS has said businesses do not need to count crypto toward that threshold until final regulations are issued, and none had been published at the time of writing. Dealers still set their own ID thresholds (Veldt: $20,000 per year).
  • European Union. The new Anti-Money Laundering Regulation (EU 2024/1624) applies from 10 July 2027 and brings mandatory customer checks for precious-metal transactions of €10,000 or more. Our Monero legality guide covers the related crypto rules arriving the same year.
  • VAT. Investment gold (bars and coins meeting the purity rules) is VAT-exempt in the EU and UK. Silver is not, which is why EU buyers often pay 20%+ more for silver than US buyers. Some dealers sell silver from VAT-free storage to avoid this.
  • Your own tax. Spending XMR on gold is a disposal of crypto in most countries, so any gain since you acquired the XMR may be taxable. We are not tax advisers; check local rules.

Delivery or vault?

Home delivery means no counterparty and no account, but you handle storage, insurance and the risk of people knowing you hold metal. Vaulted storage (Suisse Gold offers Zurich) is insured and easier to sell, but costs a yearly fee, adds a custodian, and usually requires an account with ID.

What about tokenized gold?

PAXG and XAUT are tokens backed by vaulted gold and trade close to spot (about $4,142 and $4,137 on 7 October 2026). You can swap XMR into them through the services in our instant swap list. They are not the same as owning metal: the issuer can freeze tokens, and redeeming for physical gold has minimums and identity checks. Treat them as a convenient price hedge, not a privacy tool.

Avoid this scam

“Monero Gold” (XMRG) was an Ethereum token with no connection to Monero or to gold, and it collapsed in an exit scam. Anything selling “Monero gold tokens” is unrelated to the real thing. Buy metal from dealers with a track record, a physical address and visible reviews — our listing pages include community reviews.

FAQ

Can I buy gold with Monero without KYC?

Yes, within each dealer's limits. Thresholds vary from roughly $20,000 per year (Veldt) to far higher claims (Bitgolder). In the EU, mandatory checks from €10,000 per transaction begin in July 2027. Your delivery address is always known to the dealer.

How much gold does 1 XMR buy?

About 0.13 oz of gold or 9 oz of silver at 7 October 2026 spot prices, before dealer premiums. Use our converter for the current XMR price.

Can I buy from individuals instead of dealers?

Yes. Precious-metals trading communities have buyers and sellers who accept XMR, often near spot for small gold. There is no buyer protection, so use an escrow or trusted reputation system and start small.

Is it better to hold XMR or gold?

They do different jobs. Monero is private, portable money you can send anywhere in minutes; gold is a slow-moving store of value you can hold in your hand. Many people in the community keep some of each. This is not financial advice.

How do I know a bullion dealer is still active?

Check that the site loads over HTTPS, prices update with spot, and XMR appears as a payment option at checkout. Look at recent reviews on the dealer's XMRList listing, and place a small first order.
